I had planned to extend the long weekend and take a trip over to the Island, but the weather was looking so grim that I changed my mind and headed south to Portland instead. Took some pictures, visited Powell's, wandered around the blues festival and caught some Independence Day fireworks. A good trip, though the drive back via the coastal "scenic route" on Hwy 101 was a slog, compounded by solid traffic on I-5 and a torrential downpour north of the border. It's almost as if Vancouver didn't want me back...
